Hey all I will be taking my Panhead out for this event...A bunch of other buddies bikes will also be there so please come out and support a local Midwest show on Jan. 10 Opens 9am Traditional Hot Rod, Custom Car, and Vintage Motorcycle show. Vendors & artists dealing in automobilia, guitars, and other music items.
Arena will be open to public from 9am to 7pm. Doors for Dale Watson concert open at 7pm at the Five Flags Theater. Five Flags Theater will be open during the day for the Fuel Injected Film Festival. Art being auctioned off will go to Hannah Wells Medical Trust. Dale Watson will be headliner on Saturday night in the Five Flags Theater.
You may have seen this bike in the background on other posts past. Its been stored in my garage for a few years and had been owned by my brother in law Ian. He inherited this bike from his father back in the mid 90's. His father "Spud" had obtained this bike in the early 80's, finished it Dec. of 83, and rode the hell out of it til his passing in 95. I have been lucky enough and totally honored to be able to purchase this bike and get it on the road after all these years. I rode it for the first time the other day. MAN, I had this amazing feeling that this historical bike not only holds a big spot in a lot of hearts in the community but has a family value that can not be measured. Riding a 1947 Indian down the streets of a city that literally hasn't seen it in nearly two decades, not to mention all of the memories this bike community and family have of this little red machine makes it a real special deal. Just was a neat experience thinking in my mind while riding it. Its not a barn find, its way cooler!!! This bike has a significant part of our families history and I am more than honored and moved to be able to ride this old Indian. Thank you Ian for letting me take it off your hands.
Couldn't be happier...Well shit, its been almost a month since I had posted anything, and a good grip since I had really put up anything of my own. God damn I really have just been hard at it with this pan head. Its crazy how many different ways this bike had gone in my head over the past three years. You all know how it goes I am sure, spending this much time and effort, not to mention all the fucking money on a bike puts a little stress in the mix that makes it that much more of a challenge to get it right the first time. I hate wasting time, especially being a father and a husband, that makes making time really scarce and hard to come by. And my wife hates me wasting money, haha. But anyway lotta fathers out there and a lot of husbands. None of them have any time to spare nor money to waste, right? Any who... I had this image of a more chopper style in my head for the longest time, you know the look...tall sissy bar, 21 with an 18, ridged mounted king queen, narrowed tanks, all the rage and really bad ass in my book. But somewhere along the line I just knew this bike had to turn out a certain way. There is something to be said about early Harley Davidson styling and just kinda leaving it alone to a certain extent. Now I am not saying this bike is even close to a resto, its a half way around the world cry from even being close, but I really wanted to try to get as close to an earlier looking bike than I initially had envisioned. So here you go this is what I ended up with. A miss matched pile of parts that somehow and someway come together to, in my opinion, work really well with each other. Cases 49 right 55 left, jugs 55, heads 57, engine total rebuild by NOOT, trans 45 updated with ratchet top and rebuilt by NOOT, frame 55-57 restored by Chad Clapper to look perfect he did a really really nice job, front end hydra glide, 58 tanks, 55 corbin-gentry police solo, 21 inch front 18 rear, bars are a narrowed OEM dimension type bar stainless by Front Street Cycles, and you can see the rest...Love this bike!!!
Well its the life of a paper maker, I get a good grip of days off every month. Thankfully so, and much needed when it comes to a swing shift of 12s. It can be at times strenuous physical and a hot ass mother fucker, But like I said I get a good amount of days off and now I am coming off of my 7 off, yes you heard it right, 7 days off. Every month I am lucky enough to get 7 days in a row off. man oh man what you should get done in these 7 day stretches, but it always kinda seems to not work out every time, well of course you get a few beers in and a few nights with the old lady wink wink but jeeze man you would assume a pan head would be built by fucking now
...any who I did make it up to Clappers shop and dropped my shit off for paint...my kids road up with me 2 hours 20 mins one way and they loved the road trip...it was down pour rain and high winds all they way but we kept jammin our way and managed to dent a panhead tank...no worries Clapper can fix it...
Jordan is a super good dude. Proud to say he is a friend. Very nice work my friend, this bike is on the top no fucking doubt about it. Look at the work that is going into this machine, ground up built show bike!!!! Super nice work man.
Well hope the little turkeys dig photos like these in 25 years...I know how much I like seeing old pics of me with my dad and his bikes, not to mention all the memories I have that weren't caught on film. I really like having them in the garage with me, even if they are INTO EVERYTHING!!!!!! Life LESSONS
Everyday I have my little routine of internet read,search, and view. BMX, Choppers, Parts, and yes even world news are all things I check daily. Can You Dig It is one I hit up everyday multiple times a day. I have been really really stoked on getting back to some riding on my BMX byke.
